Carlisle has been very open and welcoming to us.

We moved to Carlisle 2 years ago. Jack grew up in Harrisburg and I grew up in Rhode Island. Jack retired from the Army two years ago and while we didn’t want to leave our friends in Butte, MT, we wanted to be closer to family. Since moving here, Carlisle has been very open and welcoming to us. As a military family, we know that the days of neighbors ringing your doorbell with casseroles to welcome you to the neighborhood are long over. We had to get out into the community and explore and meet people. We enjoy meeting our new friends, and hearing their stories and letting us tell ours. Carlisle has held a lot of wonderful surprises for us. We love the variety of restaurants that are available to us from diners to Spanish tapas and everything in between. We love the history of Carlisle, the role it played in the Civil War to the history being made daily at the War College. We love the walking trails that dot the city, part of the Appalachian Trail passes through Carlisle, along with the LeTort Springs Nature Trail to name just two. Living in Carlisle means living in a community that is hidden in broad daylight. Once we opened our eyes, we found the next chapter in our life! – Marsha and Jack
